Work is underway on a collection of 59 new homes in the historic coastal village of Crantock in north Cornwall.
The two, three, four, and five-bedroomed architect-designed houses at Halwyn Meadows are being built by Cornish housebuilder, Legacy Homes, a subsidiary of the multi award-winning prestige developer, Legacy Properties.
Built using locally-sourced materials, they’ve been designed to complement the existing architecture in the village. Half of the homes will be contemporary family homes will be available on the market; half, a mix of social renting and shared ownership.
A stone’s throw from Crantock’s mile-long stretch of golden sands, the village is a popular year-round destination for families, walkers, surfers and watersports enthusiasts. It boasts a Grade 1 listed church, St Carantoc’s, which dates from the 6th Century, as well as a number of traditional pubs, cafes and restaurants, arts and crafts shops, a convenience store, village hall, and playing fields.
“Crantock is one of those rare places which really does have it all: it’s a picture postcard Cornish village which is close to the beach, has excellent transport links, a great community atmosphere, good local amenities, and character in abundance,” said Legacy’s managing director, Nick Long.
“This development will have the Legacy stamp of quality but at a more affordable price, so we anticipate these houses being snapped up very quickly.”
Legacy’s social housing partner for the development, Westward Housing, said Halwyn Meadows would provide much-needed affordable homes for local people.
“The new shared ownership homes mean that local people can build their lives and raise families in this highly desirable area of Cornwall,” said Westward’s development manager, Chris Duggan.
“We’re delighted to be working with Legacy Homes at this new development.”
Starting at £265,000, the open market homes will benefit from a 10-year NHBC Buildmark warranty, standard across Legacy-built properties.
The company is hosting an exclusive appointment-only preview day on November 17, at which potential buyers of open market homes at Halwyn Meadows will be given a detailed presentation of the floor plans and CGIs, as well as a tour of the site.
